Project Overview
Colt Seager is a painter and sculptor exploring the relationship between abstract art and faith. Drawing from Midwest landscapes, his work focuses on process, form, and space and utilizes both formal and organic elements. As Colt gains recognition and receives more gallery features and commission requests, the necessity for a short film that showcases his philosophy and process became apparent.
Our Approach
Craft & Motion initiated the project with a series of conversations with Colt to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying themes and inspirations of his work. This allowed for our team to begin developing a concept and creative direction for the profile piece. It quickly became clear that the fundamental concept should come from the Irish teaching of the Thin Place, where heaven and earth converge, offering glimpses of the divine.
Over two production days, our team filmed various scenes with Colt, including the placement of select sculptures in nature, a place that inspires much of his art. The scenes are interwoven with an interview featuring Colt discussing the Thin Place, his beginnings as an artist, and his process, all set to a custom musical score written for the project.
Key Results
The film was met with widespread attention and increased brand visibility while ultimately providing a compelling insight into Colt's artistic vision. The storytelling, visuals, and music resonates deeply with viewers and has become a powerful promotional tool that also fosters a deeper connection with the artist and his work.
